Sex on the Radio

A few years ago I decided to purchase an XM radio because I was tired of listening to a local radio station here in the Detroit Metro area.  The local station, Channel 95.5, is very popular with the young adult crowd but it seemed that all they would ever talk about is sex.  One morning I was taking my son to school and we were listening to the station and an advertisement about a woman’s adult night club came on and I had had enough.  I sent an email to one of the host of the morning show explaining that I didn’t think this type of advertisement should  be played during the day when kids maybe listening.  To their credit, they responded and agreed that it was appropriate and from that day on I never heard the advertisement.  Kudos to them for listening and acting on it.

I continued to listen for a few months but again I got tired of the constant talk about sex.  I know, you don’t have to say it; all I had to do is change the radio station.  Unfortunately, when they are not talking about sex, the show is really interesting.  They do talk about local news, such as the former Detroit mayor that was thrown in jail, and other local topics.  They do a lot of events to raise donations for charities; do phone scams that are really funny and a bunch of other things that I can’t think of right now.  This is the part I really enjoyed.  But the sex talk just got too much for me.  Even the language is getting out of control.

From time to time I turn back to the station so I can see what the latest local news may be, get updated traffic information and whatever else might be of interest that you can’t get from XM radio.  This morning I turned to the station and guess what, the topic turned to sex again.  After 3 years of not listening to the station they haven’t changed a bit.  Two of the hosts have young kids.  Do they let their kids listen to this show?  I would hope not.  Do they only have sex on the brain?  Isn’t there enough to talk about other than sex?

Mojo get your mind out of the gutter and stop wasting air!!!
